Your journey through the Tarot has now arrived at specifics. Remember that the court cards usually represent actual people in your life. However, the card indicates how they appear, act and influence you, and while this may be an accurate picture of them, it may also not be, for the card doesn’t represent how they are – only how you experience them. A court card may also stand for you, or a part of you, especially if that part is acting subconsciously. This may be how you are coming across to others, even if you are not aware of it. Please note, although the Knight is usually male and the Page may well be female, this isn’t always the case in real life, so keep an open mind.
THE KNIGHT OF PENTACLES
The suit of Pentacles refers to the body, to the Element of Earth, to material things, assets, practicalities and to money. The Knight of Pentacles is hardworking, practical, dependable and patient. He knows that rewards will come to him in time, so he keeps on keeping on. He relies on himself and plans ahead – he has the future in his sights even though he lives very much in the here-and-now. Although he may, in his way, be ‘valiant’ he doesn’t take risks. He’s quietly proud of what he’s achieved, and he will share it, although he won’t squander it on lost causes.
He loves money and he can’t get enough of it. However much he earns he keeps striving for more. His major pleasure is in having things and winning whatever game he’s playing for profit. Some people may say he has no soul but he just laughs at that – why does he need a soul when he has a fat – and growing – bank balance? As far as he’s concerned the end justifies the means and he isn’t fussy how he gets his dosh as long as it rolls in. Be careful of a close partnership with this Knight because he’ll take short cuts and live with whatever happens. In fact he may dump the consequences on you, and never think twice. Life is a gamble and he’s out to win
PAGE OF PENTACLES
She (or he) is the eternal student, open to life’s experiences and relishing every minute. She learns from everyone she meets and everything she touches. She’ll also learn from you if she can, and delight in it. She’s open to advice and practical help, but she has her own goals and will work hard to get there. She’s creative and has some useful ideas which she delights in expressing. She loves the natural world and finds it inspiring.
She’s set in her ways and sticks like a limpet within her comfort zone, which makes her old before her time. No-one can give her any advice – not her peers, or elders and betters, because her vision is blinkered and she’s stubborn and ignorant. She doesn’t care about the past so she doesn’t learn from that, or from the teaching of others. She’s a law unto herself, so she won’t listen to you, even if you can see she’s being stupid. Just don’t let her take you with her into that narrow little world she inhabits – she’s not worth your trouble.

And is there a behavior that you can recognize as being destructive, and change?
