Willpower is what gives us determination to succeed or do something which we know will bring benefit to our life. The ‘lack’ of willpower is also often spoken about when we want to do something but we do not feel motivated enough to make the changes we need.

Willpower is described as a mixture of self-control, determination and self-discipline. It is something which we believe urges us to make the changes that we need for success, or make the first steps to creating what we want. Motivation is an essential part of willpower because unless we feel motivated, we may not have enough willpower to do what we want to do. How many times have you said ‘I just don’t have the willpower to do that’? Changing words can have a positive effect on your attitude, instead use ‘I will find the willpower to do that!’. Lack of willpower is a negative energetic term and can is perhaps used as an excuse for not bothering to do something, or not feeling determined enough.

Willpower can be used for all areas of our life. For example, if you wanted to eat healthily you would use willpower to avoid sweet or indulgent temptations, keeping in mind your long-term goal. Having the willpower to do something physical would need motivation and energy to initiate and succeed. Willpower is often a desire for self-improvement and may involve a change to bad or unwanted habits. Everyone can have the willpower to achieve what they want and sometimes it can be something as simple as changing a routine or behaviour. Embracing willpower to make something happen is all you need to get what your heart desires.

SLEEP: We all need a decent amount of sleep to be able to function properly during the day. Lack of sleep will make us feel low in energy, thus contributing to a lack of willpower.
GOALS: If you have goals that you want to reach, make sure that you do not try to change too many things at one time. Making major changes in life can be stressful and there is no need to overburden yourself and potentially risk disappointment.
EMPOWERMENT: Do something small for yourself every day that will help you focus and empower you for the future. For example, listen to a meditation track before you go to sleep or enrol in a local yoga class.
REWARD YOURSELF: Give yourself an occasional reward as you work on your goals. For example, if you are eating healthily then treat yourself to lunch out with a friend every few weeks.
VISUALISE: During a quiet moment, close your eyes and visualise your end goal, imagine how you will feel and how the result will have had a positive effect on your life. It is believed that if you keep visualising a goal, you can naturally manifest it.

Lack of willpower is often caused because you do not feel motivated or determined enough to do what you need to do to achieve the end result.
