Want to know what is in your forecast without having to wait until you can read your favourite astrologer’s horoscope column?
Sun Sign, or Zodiac, astrologers use a simple system that helps them to get a very general picture of what is happening for each sign. Here is how it works.
As you know, the zodiac is divided into twelve signs. What you might not know it that is starts with the spring equinox and the sign of Aries. Aries is followed by Taurus, then Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius and Pisces, in exactly that order.
The heavens are also divided mathematically into a system called ‘houses’. There are twelve houses, just as there are twelve signs and each house rules a part of your horoscope.
They are as follows:
1st house – you, your body, the image you present to the world.
2nd house – what you have in terms of material things and what you value.
3rd house – your day-to-day existence, also your neighbourhood, your siblings and any form of communication or short journeys – telephones, cars and so on.
4th house – your parents, your family of origin and the property you live in.
5th house – everything that brings joy: children, art, social life, romance
6th house – hard work, responsibility and health
7th house – marriage and other close one-to-one relationships such as professional partnerships or consultants
8th house – the house of endings and beginnings, of sex, and of “other people’s money”
9th house – travel, further education, culture, the law, publishing and academia
10th house – your public role or standing, your career
11th house – your friends, associates or organizations you belong to or vote for
12th house – spirituality, the end of things, closure, privacy
Now, use a simple counting system to find out which house the Sun is in for your sign. Start with your Sun sign and count forwards until you come to the sign the sun is in now. For example, if you are born an Aries, then when the Sun is in Cancer, four signs or four months from yours, it will be in your fourth house. That is the part of your life that is always emphasised during July —home, family and property.
Here’s another example, let’s say you are born in May, and are a Taurus. In July when the Sun is in Cancer it is in your third house, three signs away —siblings, communication, short journeys.
Or, what if you are a Libra? Then in July the Sun in Cancer is 10 signs, or 10 months away (remember to always count forward, not back) making July the time for career.
This simple system works the same each and every year because the Sun travels around the earth at the same rate and always ends up in a particular constellation, or sign, at a particular time.
Of course, there is much more to the Zodiac than where the Sun is, but because the Sun is the most powerful energy in the solar system, it will always provide a good clue as to what you can look forward to.
Try it for yourself and see!
