BE GRATEFUL

 
If you make just one affirmation this Spring let it be about gratitude. It’s so easy to dwell on the negative aspects of life and to focus on what you don’t have. Everyone does it, but it isn’t productive. Thinking about all the good things that are already in your possession makes you contended and joyful. It also helps to attract more good things. So each night before you go to sleep, list at least three things you’re grateful for, and really feel that thankfulness. It’s a little bit of simple magic that can change your life.
 

HAVE PROPER DOWN TIME

 
Relaxation is essential, so never think of time enjoying yourself or resting as time wasted – it’s essential for wellbeing and future achievement. If possible book some time away to enjoy the brighter weather. Regularly practice meditation or mindfulness and learn to switch off completely. Everything will look new and shining – and that won’t just be down to the fact it’s Spring.
 

BE TIDY

 
Keeping things in order sends a very powerful message to your subconscious that you are in control of your life. This isn’t about being obsessive – far from it. You don’t want to waste time scrubbing and cleaning. However, always being able to find clean clothes, credit cards and car keys makes life so much easier. Make your motto ‘A place for everything and everything in its place.
 

BE KIND

 
Be nice to other people makes you feel good. Research has revealed the power of kindness – it releases feel-good chemicals not only into the brain of the recipient, but also into the person who is being kind, and anyone who is watching. Kindness enriches the world in so many ways, so practice random acts of kindness every day.
 

LOVE YOURSELF

 

Do you love yourself? If not, why not? Lots of people talk about self-love while still giving themselves a hard time. Try to imagine that you are your own best friend. What compliments would you give yourself? What treats? What compassion and understanding? So stop judging yourself and expecting standards that are too high.  Instead be gentle with yourself and see how much better you feel.

 

MAKE A CHANGE FOR HEALTH

 

You may have started the year with a diet or fitness resolution that has already fallen by the wayside. Don’t despair! Pick on one or two small manageable changes that you can make. These could be giving up sugar in your tea, walking for 15 minutes a day, taking the stairs instead of the lift at work, etc. Once this has become a habit you may then feel inspired to make other small changes. By summer you’ll be feeling masses better.

 

EMBARK ON A CREATIVE PROJECT

 

You may think you don’t have time to do very much, but when you think how much time you spend watching telly or on the Net you may realise that actually you could spend half an hour per day making mosaics, painting, knitting or whatever appeals. A whole new world of achievement awaits you!

 

HAVE A MAKEOVER

 

Change your look for the lighter season ahead. If your budget allows, you could visit a beautician for facials, manicures etc. But even if money is a problem, explore charity shop chic with new colours and styles. Seeing yourself in a new light will be a tonic.

 

FOLLOW YOUR DREAMS

 

Dreams may not come true easily or quickly, but make the affirmation that you will keep on nurturing them and taking steps towards them. Be clear about what you want, imagine it and feel it inside you, as if it were real. Each day take a small step in the right direction. With faith and persistence you really can change your life.
